1920s Fashion; Causing a flap

1920s fashion went hand in hand with the jazz music scene, replacing the floor length gowns of the early 20th century with flapper girls; bobbed hair and shorter hemlines who smoked and applied make up in public; controversial. Coined the ‘roaring 20s’, the next ten years brought to our attention the likes of fashionista Coco Chanel and the great Greta Garbo; fashion queen of the silent movies. With top designers now taking their own inspiration from the shapeless shifts and beaded fringes, Marc Jacob’s recent New York fashion A/W collection to name one, box office films like Chicago are reinventing the look and hairdressers worldwide giving the bob it’s welcome return with many fashion high profilers (Katie Holmes, Agyness Deyn) following suit. I, for one, like the idea of adopting some of the elements of the 20’s to add a touch of femininity yet controversy to any outfit. The 20s have made a comeback that’s here to stay for a while longer yet.
