1970s Fashion; Bringing Home the Bondage

Two words; McClaren, and Westwood. The Sex Pistols manager and design legend to this day who, together, brought the British fashion scene bang up to date mid 70s with the provocative new style and stand against disco, Punk. Kids everywhere were rushing to the local shop buying crazy coloured hair dye and rustling up Mohawks in their own kitchens. Safety pins, leather and bondage gear were everywhere, courtesy of Westwood’s infamous bondage collection in 1976, and the Sex Pistols were gods in the eye of a 1970s punk. Well news just in, it’s back! (No, unfortunately not her Kings Road SEX shop and this time round without the painful looking piercings through every nook and cranny). With Daisy Lowe fronting the new Doc Marten’s ad campaign, sporting ever so fetching red docs, Lily Allen’s also been spotted donning a pair of the fancy footwear and yes, I already invested in my own beautiful black leather dm’s just last week. However, punk does come with a warning. Always avoid the old men on the street still flaunting their leather jackets, tattoos and piercings, they are stuck in their prime of life and provide a brilliant example of how not to do it these days.
