How Novel

Stepping outside the tube staion and into the pouring rain, Shoreditch was at it's grimey finest. The rain hammered onto the gritty east-end pavements and graffitied railway bridges and from there, my quest to dig out Joe Corres' latest clothing venture had begun.

Considering him the Prince of punk (the son of Dame Vivienne Westwood and legend Malcolm McLaren) and co-founder of one of the most controversial lingerie brands to date, Corres' A Child Of The Jago (named after the Victorian nivel by Arthur Morrison) was somewhat more low-key than expected.

The black Victorian-style exterior mirrors the dark, gothic interior, complete with an unidentifiable musty smell greeting you on arrival.

His mother's influence is apparanet with vintage bowler hats quaintly hung on iron hat stands, silk lined teddy boy jackets and even an old WW2 German fighter pilot uniform.

A Child Of The Jago is no doubt an imaginative and original step into the foray of menswear for Corre and its pleasantly unpretentious atmosphere makes it a perfect pass for an inspired vintage find, not to mention a 1950s postman's work jacket - if you were ever to need one that is.
