Milan Fashion Week: D&G Provide a Scottish Retreat

To report designer duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana steered away from their usual sexy stance on clothes could be an understatement to say the least looking at their latest Autumn/Winter ‘08 Milan Fashion Week collection.

Queue the silk headscarves and more demure below the knee kilt inspired skirts Queen Elizabeth herself wouldn't look out of place in. Although more conservative than their usual, D&G successfully took a leaf out of Dame Vivienne Westwood’s fashion Bible and paired tartan dresses, trench coats, and even tights, with a rich palette of reds, blues and greens.

A flowery and feminine neckline and paisley 1970s inspired flared trouser set created a welcome breath of fresh air amid the over bearing tartan drowning the catwalk.

Although the vote may yet to be cast on HRH herself donning a D&G creation, this seasons infatuation with the Scottish print leaves a simple yet effective taste in our mouths.
