Fashion Favourites, London Fashion Week: Westwood Answers To London’s Calling

With rumours circulating Kate Moss was to make an appearance and the show being Westwood’s first at London Fashion Week in almost a decade, the buzz surrounding Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label Autumn/Winter ‘08 collection was electric. Never failing to impress, despite Jaime Winstone stepping into Moss’s absent shoes at the eleventh hour, Westwood’s collection was an eclectic mix of her signature tartan and punk inspired check patterns with next seasons masculine silhouette.

Similar to Bartley, crimped hair was taken from the New York catwalk shows and lips painted with striking bold colour. Rich, dark shades dominated the colour palette across the collection and simple, though effective, jumper dresses, skirt suits, striking trench coats and hounds tooth patterns thrown together embodied Westwood’s true London calling. If Bartley’s collection failed to convince London’s fashion royalty of gothic undertones and lacy fabrics, maybe the Queen Bee of original fashion’s collection persuaded otherwise.
