Known for his innovation, Yohi Yamamoto’s Autumn Winter Parisian catwalk show during Fashion Week 2008 delivered his usual dark palette and dramatic headwear. Frequent use of leather worked into tailored jackets and floor length coats created a hard edge to the collection. Leather and tough black lace ups were softened by long skirts made of feminine fabrics, velvet and chiffon, accentuated at the hip by rolls of fabric and thick buckled belts.
A super-sized theme sustained throughout the collection with large sunglasses, sculptural headwear and full-bodied skirts and the dark colour palette slightly broken with hints of white, electric blue and dull tones. . Although slightly plain and consistent, Yamamoto’s collection still struck a chord enough to compete with the more bold and creative collections sharing his catwalk during Paris Fashion Week.
